 “She’s a sexy tomboy with a bit of bon vivant”

Rebecca Minkoff’s words backstage to describe her girl she sent down the runway in her Spring/Summer 2013 show…. I have to say, I’m in. It was all very 70s bohemian cool with a bit of edge (think bandana prints, bell bottoms, head pieces and motorcycle vests), while also being in a feminine and light and airy color palette with girly accents and details such as floral prints and embroidery. But only RM could make all that crazy cool and tough. I love it. Doesn’t hurt that I consider myself something of a bon vivant. Since my photos really don’t do it all justice, I’ve included the youtube coverage of the show- you really must watch to get the whole cool girl feel and also hear the awesome mash-up music by duo indie group ‘Tennis’ and DJ Cassidy.

As for me, I wore Fall’s (and Spring 13 as this also went down several runways) black and white trend (love shopbop’s recent lookbook) to the show. I ended up making these racing/tuxedo stripe pants myself by sewing wide satin ribbon down a pair of black pants I owned that I never wore anymore. The pants needed some pizzazz and I love this sporty chic trend – it was a perfect project. I capped my look off with loads of rocker-y accessories, dark burgundy lipstick (this is a mix of CoverGirl Lip Perfection in ‘Euphoria’ and YSL ‘Noir Lacque’) and my black aviators for a cool-girl vibe I knew Rebecca would approve of.
